Tailor Decks on Kudzu!

Just like Kudzu around Atlanta, our name continues to spread!  Are you familiar with Kudzu.com?  It's a website that allows visitor's to critique (or applaud) vendors around town.  That is, you can go in and find your favorite restaurant and let people know your opinion of them.  That way, when others are looking for a good restaurant and see your positive review, they'll be more likely to give it a try.  We recently had a video built (to the left) for the site that explains what we do.

For those of you who are reading this post and have a positive review of Tailor Decks, we would really appreciate it if you would take a couple of minutes to give us a recommendation there.  It will let others know that we build good decks.  Here's the link to that.  It will require you to register with them.  Then after that, you'll be able to add a review of anyone you want!

Names and Dogs

I've been asked many times over the years where the name "Tailor Decks" came from.  Typically, and probably naturally, new customers think my last name is Taylor and greet me with "Mr. Taylor". 

The truth is that the name "Tailor Decks" came about when I was trying to find a name that best suited how I wanted to present the company.  After all, when I was young, having my own business was never a question of what, when, or where.  The only question was what the name was going to be.  When it came time to launch, I grappled with a lot of options.  Because the heart of the company was going to be (and still is), customization, we threw around a lot of options on a notepad...mostly around the word "custom". 

But "Custom Decks" (and variations) just didn't seem to work.  And "Atlanta custom decks" wasn't much better.  At some point during this brainstorm I wondered where my wife's dog was. "Taylor", a miniature dachshund, had been quietly sitting at my feet the whole time.  In addition to being my quiet bedrock through the tough times, Taylor instantly became my inspiration.  A little spelling change and the company's name was made...and the company launched.  So yes, the company's name, "Tailor Decks", was canine-inspired.

Taylor passed away a few years ago, but since then, we've added a Shih tzu named Cobi to the Tailor Decks family.  Cobi is one of my best buddies...and he makes it a point to come out to the sites to make sure we're on track.  Scott, who works with us, likes to call him "Tailordog".  I like that.

Tailor Decks First Screened Porch with Tailor Wood Porch Flooring

Tailor Decks has just completed our first project with our new Tailor Wood Porch flooring in the Atlanta area. The flooring is very easy to install and quick. When the floor is done you do don't see any fasteners. The flooring is very comfortable to walk on. The customer was very pleased with the unique design. The shiplap design eliminates screening between the joist and flooring. They have asked us to come back and redo their front porch with the same material. We are also in the process of contracting two other deck and screened porch projects with Tailor Wood Decking. What I am finding out with our clients are they want something different and affordable. I know that our Tailor Wood Decking and Porch Flooring does set us apart from other contractors. This will help us get thru these slow and difficult times. I have also included three pictures.

Our Project and Supply Book

To help show our Atlanta prospects work that we've completed when visiting them, we put together a project and supply book.  The book shows many examples of our work over the years...and also displays many options that you can include when building your addition.
